Sharing My Entrepreneurial Mindset
"In all honesty , the entrepreneurial learning path that I traveled since 1995 came about because I never really embraced the idea of working for someone else . It was never about the money --- I was really forced to pursue this path because I don't enjoy not being in charge of my own destiny. Taking orders from others, in all due respect was never an issue when it came to working a job. It was simply never my long-term goal to be 'one more' notch in the belt for someone else's enterprise or fortune other than my own. In other words , it was never my intention to work for the man---- I wanted to be in control of my own life."
The comfort and perceived safety of a corporate job never caught my attention long enough to influence my dreams to move away from the excitement and potential riches of the startup home profession world. I had tendered my resignation to follow an entrepreneurial impulse after having observed just a few inconsistencies with my own spirituality that kept on telling me that "somethin's not right with this picture!" The audacity of manager's goofiing-off time while holding the "worker bees" like myself to the clock as I was at that time, including a few other hard realities about not being in control of my own time and my own life on many levels, just didn't feel like true justice and freedom for all!.
Being an entrepreneur means you can determine your own destiny and experience the gradual adrenaline rush and high's of building something from the ground up. There’s no better feeling than putting your heart and soul into your own company to deliver a product (or service) that you’re passionate about. But start-up life has been dramatized by the media in a way that doesn’t quite capture reality.
Working from home can also be the hardest thing you'll ever do to have financial security. There are controllables and uncontrollables in this unpreditable world we live in. However, having an entrepreneurial mindset and self-discipline to move forward with strong passion and desire can make a non-plush office and late night brainstorming through stratgies for success seem very unappealing. Being a self-starter with the discipline to self-manage is a good beginning for helping lay the foundation for success.
While working from home, I have had my share of long and tedious work days as a work at home professional, during which I have oftentimes worked the equivalent of double and even triple shifts at times. Add to that the necessary and unexpected typical interruptions on the phone conversations, dealing with family matters and get togethers, running errands, etc. etc., and you get one heck of a very tired mind and body. Yet what outshines it all is continuing to exercise my own power and ability to imagine life beyond failure and with financial freedom. Not working to manifest my own ticket to freedom is no different than accepting "lack" and "limitation" as a natural state of existence. Working for "the man" doesn't support such dreams!
What really captures the essence of a startup no matter how you size it up is the exhausting, long and chaotic and turbulent ride uphill. The truly inspired will put their own vision always foremost in their mind and this is the essence of an entrepreneurial mindset and self-discipline path. It's a labor of self-love to remain fully-charged while enjoy (almost) every minute of your climb towards success because there isn't any other option but to forge onward. To become a work at home professional, no matter the challenges, can be a very lonesome experience because no one else can trailblaze your path for you but you.
Self-Discipline and tolerance for risk
One test every entrepreneur-in-the-making should consider is their tolerance for risk. Having an entrepreneurial mindset and self-discipline to work at home can be a life of uncertainty on many levels. However, working for an established company with comforts of a guaranteed paycheck or salary on a certain day of the month, althought not so much the case these days due to economic decline in the last decade, has it many drawbacks too. It means potentially spending more time with your co-workers than with your family, more often than not the case. It means being responsible for not just your own livelihood, but also for every person in your particuar department and the company. And last but not least, it means there is the perpetual disconnect from your aspirations whatever they may be.
In restrospect, uncertainty alone will not chase me away from pursuing my entrepreneurial path. Uncertainty will never overshadow my ability and strong desire to create my own reality, and out of this reality evolved my and my son's vary own online business's from the knowledge and skills we've gained over many many years. So I have hit a few home-runs along my journey, and so it ain't so bad as it may be for most who do not have skills in online marketing and tools as I do have. As a result of years of online markeitng experience and know-how, together my son and I created syndicationmasters.com (syndr.com), a social media synidation platform that generates good social signals on Google, and giveawayfrenzy.com people where companies and individuals giveaway free prizes by doing contest in order to gain traffic to their business or corporation.
These two online business's of ours evolved while observing the online marketing trends as bloggers and doing web development. It's the love for doing online work and keeping pace with innovated online marketing that as of nearly two months ago, lead me to turn my focus once again to mobile technology. I'd dabble in it every now and then to see where this technoloy trends were going. I found through research that the mobile app technology of Paid2Save Network is revolutionizing the mobile industry and experince due to ease of access for the 80% of mobile users that love to shop for bargains online.
In a world where there isn't much of an employment guarantee due to outsourcing, downsizing, company layoffs, as well as closing down business, having a start-up business through a very solid affiliate business may not be a bad idea. By no means am I selling you on the idea of simply walking away from your job, if you do have one. Altough both options mentioned above can be risky, the greater risk may be not makig a clear decision for how-to measure a set of risks in either direction, and therefore losing the window of opporunity for either 'not walking away from a dead-end job" at the right time, or for "walking away from an opportunity" too soon" before thoroughly researching the entrepreneurial path to determine if you do have "the entrpreneurial mindset and self-discipline to travle the bumpy road ahead.
So why would anyone put up with the possibility of riding a slippery-slope up and sometimes down the ladder towards financial success? It is because anyone with even the slightest entrepreneurial mindset and self-discipline knows that being an entrepreneur also means you may actually build a company that becomes legendary or create a product that makes peoples’ lives better. You may build a profitable business that you run for years and pass on to your children. But if you start your new journey into a home based business, do it for the right reasons and with realistic expectations, and it will be smoother and much more enjoyable.
No matter where the entrepreneurial urge comes from, deciding to follow it is a life-changing move. When it comes time to make the final decision, the two main questions to ask yourself are, No. 1, am I prepared for the long and arduous journey up the slippery-slope, and No. 2, am I willing to do whatever it takes to become intellectually enriched with the fundamentals of business succes? Of course, there are many other questions to ask yourself. I know there are many other soul seearching questions to ponder, such as am I resillent enough to get back up in case I fail and to do it over-and-over and over again? Failure is truly the act of never letting go of fear! If you never began what you have only dreamed of then you have already failed!
